Creatures

One night screams will turn to croons
Blood won’t be what colours moons
That one dusk will be so bright
All will come together in light
Creatures crawl in darkest night
Wait to finally see stars

Looking for that destined place
Rats, bats, cats; around don’t chase
Filled with joyful, wary fright
For types of peace that once felt trite
Creatures crawl in darkest night
Wait to finally see stars

Coming from that awful black,
With the deaf’ning bangs and hurts and cracks
Once spiders scuttled with gaunt and haste
Now no souls will brim with distaste
Wolves and vampires howl and bite
But gazes turn to the dazzling light
Creatures crawl in darkest night
Wait to finally see stars

Twisting limbs once made to scare
Will dance to skies without a care
Pumpkin heads and see-through ghosts
Come down now, see their earthly hosts
The things once thought to cause such blight
Lived to just make death, pain and fright
Creatures crawl in darkest night
Wait to finally see stars

One dusk those screams turn to croons
No trapped rabbits ‘neath the crescent moon
Now the future is tonight
Everyone comes together in light
Creatures crawl in darkest night
Wait to finally see stars

Often hid by scary smog
All creepy human thoughts and fog
Now bathed by that gorgeous light
To be small in nature feels so right
Creatures crawl in the gorgeous night
And at last, clouds part, they see stars.
